Distanced-Love

For the last five years, I have been struggling to convince them about the concept of “Distanced-Love”, but I failed with flying colours.

The reasons are yet unclear, but I come out with a few after a careful and deep analysis. The full-of-love four-legged creatures of Turkey believe in love at first sight. It is hard to convince them, “Dogs”, that other feelings do exist, but they need to see the reality of people. Or simply, they need to try to keep their heart in a neutral mood.

Whenever I walk in the street, and if by mistake, I look at a dog. A spark hits its eyes, and it will, for sure, decide to walk with me. From this moment, I am its close friend, if not even more.

I learned my lesson, so I figured out what I should do. The solution is easy, don’t look at any dog. Well, believe me, it is not. You can not help yourself but

look at innocent cute little (not always little. Some are really, really, really big) dogs, or you can not avoid looking at their selfless behaviours that show nothing but caring and love.

So, back again, a simple look with a slight admiration means a companion for the whole journey.

You may ask yourself, so what if a dog walks with me? For any normal person, that is normal. For me, it is a disaster.

I appreciate their love for me. I appreciate how all the dogs I have met since I was a child, left everyone around me and picked only me. Only me to look after and make sure that I reach my destination safely.

Right now, I learned a few tricks to send them away, but every time I did this, my heart ached big time. The look I got from their eyes says a lot. One dog once told me, “What is wrong? I thought we were neighbours?” Of course, not in words, but his eyes said it all.

Another told me, “Goodbye” with his wet eyes.

I see disappointment, sadness and confusion in their innocent beautiful eyes, but I cannot help it. All I need is love from a distance. There is nothing wrong with loving me while miles separate us! There is nothing wrong with showing how happy you are to see me in total silence and standstill.

I am pretty sure that one day, either I will win and distanced love will prevail, or these loyal four-legged creatures will eventually be my real & close friends.

Let’s leave it to the future to decide.
